The New England Patriots matched their top unbeaten stretch from the Brady period as they overcame AFC East rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football

Rookie Henderson was the standout with three scores as the Patriots claimed an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019

QB Maye threw for 281 passing yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The triumph extends the New England's lead at the top of the AFC East as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after slipping to two victories and eight defeats

The Jets had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard TD to conclude the New York's first possession

But the home team fought back in the second period as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third period to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He wants to be great."

Fields connected with John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the home side wrapped up the victory
